The 144,000

This week’s blog is simply a question.

Next Sunday evening we will walk through Revelation 7. In verse 4, we will encounter 144,000 “servants of God” who are “sealed” before the Trumpet Judgments are unleashed on the unbelieving world prior to the mid-point of the Tribulation. There has been much speculation about who they are and even some wild claims made by various groups about their identity.

So, I want you to examine verses 1-8 and answer this question: Who are the 144,000?

And while you’re at it, go ahead and identify the “great multitude” in verses 9-17. I look forward to reading your answers!

I believe the 144,000 are the Jewish people who turned back to God and accepted Jesus as their Savior in the Tribulation.
I believe the great multitude were all the saints down thru the ages who have accepted Jesus as their Savior.

The 144,000 that were sealed are Jews from the 12 tribes of Israel. 12,000 from the tribe of Judah, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad, 12,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh, 12,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar, 12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin. These Jews were saved after the Rapture during the Tribulation.

The vast multitude that no one could number were from every nation, tribe, people and language coming out of the great tribulation . They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of The Lamb. For this reason they are before the throne of God and they serve Him day and night.
